All:

As many of you know, the Central Texas Area was
hit by catastrophic (sudden- flash) flooding on October
17, 1998. Our neighborhood sits in the curve of the
Guadalupe River with our house being about 2 1/2
city blocks from the River. Our home was not considered
to be in the 100 year flood plan but Mother Nature does
not look at flood plans when she strikes.

My son, Ryan, who will be 13 next week, has been collecting
old Ranger handbooks and Leader books for a number of
years. Unfortunately, his collection was in a filing cabinet
that was filled with mud and water. He would like to buy
olde Rnager handbooks if anyone has then available for
purchase. He had a really old Ranger leader handbook
that my father had given to him. His "prized" possession
however was his copy of "Johnnie Barnes - Barefoot Dreamer".
It was not a signed copy but just a copy that I had purchased
from him when he was only 6 or 7. If anyone has one that they
would be willing to sell, please let me know on the back channel.
Ryan has been a Sectional Ranger of the Year since he began
Straight Arrows in 1991 and has a running record for the past
8 years for being Sectional Ranger of the Year in whatever
category he qualifies for. He has several second and third
place District Ranger trophies and one 1st place at District.
He also placed 3rd at SC Regional ranger last year. Fortunately,
he was able save all of his trophies and plagues.

If you can help us with the purchase of handbooks, please let us
know. Thanks.

God Bless You All,

Sandy Reneau

Please continue to pray for us and for our area. Rebuilding is slow
and recovery is difficult.
