To all:
The year 2000 award is a great idea. It's a good way to encourage our boys
to do than to read through the New Testament, and we all know the benefits
for the boys who complete this. I am going to strongly promote it in our
Outpost.
My own son, Chris, is 10 and he has agreed that he and I will work on it
together and that there will be no TV or video games until we have read the
days selection. Because Chris is a natural leader and a patrol guide, having
him enthusiastic will help to encourage the other boys. We will make a chart
to put on the wall to track everyone's progress. Each month we will do
something special for the boys who are participating (ice cream party, pizza
party etc.). What are the rest of you doing? I'd welcome more ideas to
encourage our boys to successfully complete this goal. Also, I expect my
Commanders to do it too. (Of course it's good for all of us, and it sets a
good example). We Commanders will have our names on the chart. Does anyone
know if the Commanders can wear the pin? My goal is to complete my reading
in 6 weeks. I will challenge my Commanders to do the same. If we wear the
pin, this could be an encouragement for the boys. Opinions?
