It has nothing to do with the clock striking 12:00:01AM, 1JAN2000. "It"
could happen as early as July, 1999 and go on for several years after
1JAN2000.
The City of Phoenix, Az found out about Y2K in 1988-89. They offer
homeowner loans, on a 12 year installment plan, for "fixing-up" the
street-side view of ones home. The loans had to be written for shorter and
shorter periods of time, before the system was finally fixed.
Besides one should always be prepared for an emergency, i.e.: Ready, whether
it is a tornado, hurricane, earthquake, snow storm, rain storm, wind storm,
rioting/looting, or an electronic foo-4-rah. My faith is in God, but I am
to be a good steward, which includes caring for my family (immediate, church
& community) in case there is an emergency. Here in the Pacific Northwest,
locally referred to as "the Banana Belt", we have mild winters, allot of
rain, sometimes snow. But, we do have power failures and we do have
earthquakes and we do have volcano(s), some less active than others. I do
NOT believe the doom-sayers, but, I do believe it is going to be a time of
great ministry outreach for my Jesus, for my Savior.
I will prepare for Y2K as I would prepare for any potential "disaster". No,
I do not know the future, except as pertains to Christ & eternity, but, to
not prepare for a "possibly" "life-threatening" situation would be
foolhardiness on my part. Not pointing the finger at you or anyone else,
just stating my humble opinion.
