I had an interesting thing happen on Sunday, which I
hope might bless you like it did me. I took off work Saturday for Section
4 Ranger of the Year competition. When I returned to work on Sunday
morning, I have to admit that I did not have the best attitude about having to
miss church and go to work. (I work in a psychiatric hospital for children
and adolescents as a nurse, and have to work some weekends.)
One of my patients, a teenage boy who had recently
tried to commit suicide, approached me and asked why I wasn't at work on
Saturday. I told him that I had taken my son to a Royal Rangers
event. The boy's face brightened, and he said, "I know what that is-
you're pentecostal!" He said, "I go to an Assembly of God
church." As we began to talk. I asked the boy if he had ever been
born again. He said that he thought so. I asked him if he died
today, if he would go to heaven or hell. He said that he did not
know. We continued to talk about this for a while, and I invited the boy
to pray and accept the Lord. He would not, and said that he would just
have to think about it for a while.
I was saddened that he would not receive
Jesus, and began to pray for him. The following day, this boy was
scheduled to be discharged from the hospital. I began to work on his
discharge, and I told him that I really wanted to see him accept Jesus and be
born again before he left the hospital. The boy looked at me and replied,
"Last night, when I got ready to go to bed, I prayed and asked Jesus into
my heart.' He then said, " I told the boy that was in the room with
me about it, too, and he prayed and asked Jesus to come into his heart,
too."
I was overjoyed! God continued to
work on that boy until he accepted Jesus, and he also made it possible for him
to share the Lord with his roommate.
Praise God for His
faithfulness.
