HONORBOUND TO OFFER FIRST NATIONAL MEN'S CONFERENCE IN PENSACOLA
"We are not trying to recreate a Promise Keepers event," emphasizes Chuck Brewster, HonorBound director and national coordinator. HonorBound is the Assemblies of God ministry to men across the United States. "We're concentrating on the Holy Spirit leading us in developing HonorBound Men of Extreme Measure. I don't mean extreme in any other way than extreme in our stance about our relationship with Jesus. We need to reclaim the land that we gave way to the devil." A key tool for developing these "extreme" relationships between men and Jesus Christ is an upcoming national seminar HonorBound is coordinating with Brownsville Assembly of God in Pensacola, Fla. The June 1-5 gathering is limited to 3,000 participants. Featured speakers will include Assemblies of God General Superintendent Thomas Trask, Sam Farina, Roosevelt Hunter, Pastor John Kilpatrick, Dr. Michael Brown, Dr Bob Gladstone, Richard Crisco, Randy Ruiz, Jeff Swaim and Chuck Brewster. Evangelist Steve Hill will hold a revival service on Friday night where 25 men from the conference will be baptized. Brewster believes this partnership between HonorBound and Brownsville Assembly will offer conference participants several benefits. "The emphasis at Brownsville is obvious," he says. "God's Spirit is being poured out there, and we men need to feel the Holy Spirit's presence. God is calling men to be men of prayer. We are initiating HonorBound's 'Prayer Commitment and Reach Three Challenge' at this conference. We want men to be extreme in their prayer life and in their outreach to other men in America." While HonorBound is not affiliated with Promise Keepers, Brewster freely admits the Assemblies of God is pursuing many of that organization's spiritual goals. "We saw the men at 'Stand in the Gap' (the October 4, 1997 gathering of more than 1 million men in Washington, D.C.) repent for their neglect of their spiritual responsibilities. We have seen the recent focus in Washington D.C. on the moral decay of our leadership and the nation's apparent acceptance of this behavior. We are asking men to repent once again and pray that God will spare our nation and our families. I see this conference as a tidal wave of prayer that will sweep through our nation and bring our men back to the altar. Praying for their homes, neighborhoods, cities, and workplaces. The focus at Brownsville will be revival in our nation." Brewster emphasizes the need to train and disciple men in the Word of God if these goals are to be met. "Men that come to the Lord need to feed themselves on the Word, be in relationship with other men and attend a Bible-believing church where they can be used by God in this last days harvest. They need to stand pure in the sight of God; but that will not happen if they don't submit to the training needed to stand during these last days." HonorBound will be offering "Blueprint Training" for men on Saturday, June 5, from 8 a.m.-2:30p.m., lunch included, to conclude the seminar. "Blueprint Training" was launched in 1998. The program is designed and written specifically to a church's men's ministry team, offering insights for senior pastors, staff pastors and men's ministries committees. "This conference is the right thing to do," Brewers says. "We want to raise prayer warriors for Christ. We want to build an army of God committed to standing pure and to the work our Savior has asked us to do." Registration to the conference is limited to the first 3000 men. The registration fee is $80. Those interested in the "Blueprint Training" will pay an additional $15 to cover the materials and lunch. The conference will begin on Tuesday, June 1, 1999 with a 5:30 p.m. check-in and evening service at 7 p.m. On Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday conference sessions will run from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. and 6 p.m.-12 midnight. Saturday training is from 8 a.m.-2:30 p.m. with revival services at 6 p.m.
