"Be content with such things as you have." (Heb. 13:5)

This scriptural advice seems so far removed from the materialistic
culture in which we live today. God has promised to bless His children,
and those blessings _may_ include financial ones. However, financial
or material blessings are neither all-important nor guaranteed. God
places no premium on riches or poverty.

One thing that we as Christians must learn is that thankfulness is not
limited to occasions or things. The spiritual resources we have in
Jesus make it possible for us to be thankful even if there is no
material evidence for thanksgiving. This is thankfulness in spite of
the lack of material blessings. We have something so much better - joy,
because we know the Lord and His salvation.

Nothing else is all-important. Jesus died for me. He is my Savior, my
all. That is enough for which to give thanks.
