Here's a little something I wrote, Thought maybe you could use:
Items needed: Candles
Light one candle and show the boys how the candle gives light as it passes
by.
Go around and light the boys candle show them how when all of the candles
are lit, the room is filled with light. Questions: How is the one candle
like Jesus? How are Christians like candles that Jesus lit?
Story: The Minner
The Minner
By Noel"Spirit Rider"Bell
Paul White was a minner. He was musclar man and tall at that. He ofter
wore a red shirt and pair of overalls and a white hard hat. His only a
light was lantern that held a candle. Often time Paul would go into the
mine alone to pray. People said he was crazy and would get killed or there
would be cave in. Paul didn't mind becuase he knew Jesus was with him.
One afternoon Paul went into pray. Little did Paul know a few hundred
yards away some men were doing some blasting. Paul took his usuall spot
and began to pray. "what a racket it." Paul though but he went on praying.
He prayed for the missionaries, those that don't know Jesus, his family
and friends. Each one by name. When Paul had finished praying, and turned
around much to his amazement the blast had caused a cave in a he couldn't
get out. Paul Wasn't scared in the least, even if he could only stand and
kneel. "As long as that candle don't go out, everthing will be all
right." Paul though. Paul began to sing all the hyms he knew. He then
kneeled down in prayer. It seemed like hours, but no help came.
The next day, Paul's buddies asked each other " Have you seen Paul?".
"No." They answered.
After some searching, they went into the mine to see if he was there.
Much to there amazement, Paul's prayer hole had rock and coal in front of
it. "Paul, are you there? Are you all right?" They yelled but there came
no answer from Paul. Paul's buddies spent the rest of day digging him out.
When they finially got to him, they knew he was dead. Even though Paul
was dead, his buddies stood in wonder as to what the found, for one the
rock wall was the stub of a candle still burning.
Jesus is the light of the world. When ever light comes, darkness flees.
Jesus is a candle that does not go out. Are you candle that Jesus has
lit?
