*Every wed. night at 7pm I stand "at bat" before the greatest challenge of my life... The meeting starts with Sr.Guide! ... and in time the boy's call's me front and center.. -=A=-'s up to BAT! I can hit the ball out of the park.. or I can strike out... but eather way.. *I'm playing ball and I love it<G> More than most.. *but not alone ;') I feel the call and "see" the path my Hero's charted for me.. Cdr.Johnnie Barnes and my Commanders and my Dad... *But I do this as much for the BOYS! for Jesus! for my son.. and also, for myself<G> God has touched my life.. and promised to heal me if I would yeild... and follow his will. Remembering all I need too carryon the tradition, I feel humbled at their trust, to present something loved...*touched by God.. to unknown boys.. at the turn of the Century! Timetravel! ----------- *If I could go back... a young trailblazer senior guide would smile with approval at a allmost 50 year old Sr.Commander ...way off in the future! (He'd also *promise to skip the hashbrowns/sasuge with country gravy!) *Lets just talk about BOYS! --------------------------- American Indian boys... were raised in the camp, learned the crafts and songs of the elders and in time worked to gain skill as a hunter/warrior and earn their full measure by the passing of trials and tests.. Frontier boys didn't walk off a jet to skyscrapers and minivans.. *they had to build it out of the forest with hard work and learn on the job, sometime ahead of their age how to stand-up and be counted as a man... ------------------------------------------- Today, things are different... far removed and changed from what we knew and what we *dreamed for good and bad... *But the challenge to build a man is before us! *Will he carry-on the building of a nation? *Will he tear it down in anger, for the lies told him? How do we reach these boys? How can we teach these boys traditions and attributes of Christian men?
