Dear Rangers,
At the Hawkesbury Christian Centre, we sing a song written by Rueben Morgan and goes like this;
Let the weak say I am strong
Let the poor say I am rich
Let the blind say I can see
Its what the Lord has done in me
Chorus
Hosanna Hosanna
To the Lamb that was slain
Hosanna Hosanna
Jesus died and rose again
Into the river I will wade
There my sins are washed away
>From the heavens mercy streams
Of the Saviours love for me
I will rise from waters deep
Into the saving arms of God
I will sing salvation songs
Jesus Christ has set me free
Chorus
The Apostle Paul had a physical weakness that he prayed for and he write in
2 Corinthians 12:9-10 But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong. We all have weaknesses, we all need Gods grace, after all our Lord is Jehovah Jirah, our Provider. We can rest in him knowing that He will provide for us. Our brother, Rick Baldwin can testify to that. His grace is sufficient for us.The song also speaks of our blindness. A wise man once said There is none so blind, than those who will not see. John wrote Revelations 3:17-21 You say, 'I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.' But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked. I counsel you to buy from me gold refined in the fire, so you can become rich; and white clothes to wear, so you can cover your shameful nakedness; and salve to put on your eyes, so you can see. Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest, and repent. Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me. To him who overcomes, I will give the right to sit with me on my throne, just as I overcame and sat down with my Father on his throne. We must open our eyes to the things that God wants to show us. He stands at OUR hearts door and knocks. He wants to come in and clean up our life. We must allow the Holy Spirit to continue the work He started when we first believed. If we do not, then we risk our eternal life because we will continue to fall back into sin.
The last two verses of the song speak about our response to Jesus. We make a public commitment to Him by the act of Baptism. In 1 Peter3:18-22 we read For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive by the Spirit, through whom also he went and preached to the spirits in prison who disobeyed long ago when God waited patiently in the days of Noah while the ark was being built. In it only a few people, eight in all, were saved through water, and this water symbolizes baptism that now saves you also--not the removal of dirt from the body but the pledge of a good conscience toward God. It saves you by the resurrection of Jesus Christ, who has gone into heaven and is at God's right hand--with angels, authorities and powers in submission to him. This is Gods Blood Covenant with us (Ill be dealing with this topic later). This Covenant can not be broken, God sealed it with the blood of His son. It is His mercy that saved us, it was His grace that brought us out our bondage to sin.
When we accept Jesus as our Saviour and rise up out of the water of Baptism, we rise above our old self, we are set free. Our old self is left in the water, we are now a new Creature in God. Jesus said in John 8:34-38 Jesus replied, "I tell you the truth, everyone who sins is a slave to sin. Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. So what more can I say, Jesus has set us free, He gives us strength, He opens our eyes, He gives us wealth, He washes away our sin and sets us free. All I can say is;
Hosanna Hosanna
To the Lamb that was slain
Hosanna Hosanna
Jesus died and rose again
Amen
