Hey Stuart,
Go Manchester United.
I'll be seeing them play in 3 weeks time.
BTW Who are the Champion One Day Cricket team?
And to think our 'papers had them on the next plane home after a
couple of losses. But the boys stuck to the task and won. There's
a good idea for a devotion.
So I Replied;
G'day mate.
I've just got used to your lot refusing to give the Ashes back that many
times that I just assumed You'd Walk this one just like the others. Looks
like you did.
However even as a staunch Yorkshireman (where cricket isn't just about life
and death - it's far more important than that) [for our American cousins and
explanation followed by help counselling and support Ahem!!! is available -
Please e-mail me privately if needed] , I've not been able to see much of
it, due to my work & ministry commitments.
Manchester United was just another team to me as I'm not into watching 22
grown men push a bag full of wind around, Its too much like British Politics
for me. Ahem!!!
However, I digress a couple of weeks ago I had the blessed joy of escorting
my wife to a gala charity & auction evening at Old Trafford Cricket Ground
in aid of the Kosovo Refugees. I was representing our church and also the
company I work for, who had generously donated a holiday as an auction lot
(I work in the Holiday Industry) to the ministry hosting the event.
Manchester United Football Club sent along a couple of chaps with an auction
lot;
A signed and framed poster of the team that won the historic triple in
Barcelona.
That lot alone raised 530 for the cause. In addition to this these two very
nice chaps brought along some silverware for people to be photograhed next
to or holding. Yes you've guessed it it was the European Cup. [American
translation available - do you think we ought to educate them?]
All told on the evening over 10,000 was raised by businesses, individuals &
churches from the North West of England Region, to help mainly those
refugees who fell through the international aid agency safety nets and also
Evangelical Serbian Christians. Please pray for our brothers and sisters in
this land as Evangelical Christianity has been outlawed in Serbia.
So in my book MUFC are pretty much OK.
Do you know it's now Sir Alex Ferguson, for what it's worth.
My favourite earthly sport is Rugby Union, we still seem to be quite good at
that.
However my favourite sport & past time is devil bashing.
here's one for you;

God,
You slap the devil in
the face.
