<< Dear Gary,
<<How did you like the ferry trip from Halifax to Argentia, New
<<Foundland?
We caught the ferry at North Sydney.
Great trip! Saw the sun set over the Atlantic and got up early the next day
(it was a 14 hr ride) and caught the sunrise over the Avalon Peninsula of
Newfoundland.
<<How much did it cost to ride the ferry? I was in the Navy
<<statiion in Argentia from Dec 69 to Aug. 71. I did not want to leave
<<when I got my orders to go Norfork, Va.
Don't know the cost. It was included in the money we raised for the trip.
Can understand not wanting to leave. If I was single and younger, I'd still
be there. Fell in love with the people and St. John's, the capital.
<<Btw, Was the US Navy still there?
Didn't really get out of St. John's but I believe that most if not all of the
American military presence is gone.
<<What was the response to the gospel in New Foundland?
We essentially went as a ministry team to encourage and train the youth group
where we were staying, Elim Pentecostal Tabernacle, in St. John's.
I can tell you this. The first night there, Friday Aug 6, there were maybe 25
kids there, very suspicious of who and what we were. Even the youth pastor
was a little leery of us (we had been invited by the Sr. Pastor to inject
some life into his youth).
God was faithful and by Monday when we had scheduled a Youth Rally, there
were 300 and Holy Spirit rose up like a torrent. Standing on the stage
looking over the crowd I saw youth pastors and leaders and kids on their
faces for hours just crying and repenting.
I'm typing a full briefing for the 'net and I'm hoping to get the first
section up sometime today. So hold on for the rest!
