All, My name is Eliezer "Ely" Itara, Sr. I'm from the New York District, North Central Section. I've been lurking since the last quarter of 1998. I've been reading and enjoying the wisdom of some and the humor of others. What brings me out is the subject of push-ups. I've been in Rangers since 7 years old, I've seen good commanders and bad. I can go on for ever about the experiences in Rangers, but the one that comes to mind is this, as a leader in the early 80's I gave boys push-ups. One day I met up with one of the boys I had in the outpost. He was an adult now and asked me, "Do you remember that night you gave me all those push-ups" he laughed. But I didn't, my heart was broken because all he remembered me as "Commander Push-Up" not the commander that introduced him to our Master Ranger Jesus Christ. Now I'm not trying to say we are not to discipline the boys. What I am saying is, will they remember you as the one that introduced him to Jesus or as a disciplinarian. We are to lead with love and compassion. Imagine Jesus giving push-ups to the decuples.
