Vintage surfers in the old days.. (*My days;') would often head for a day at the beach with cut-off jeans a T-shirt and a rolled up towel... If you caught a ride with a "Buddy" you might fork over the .79 cents you had for gas.. and forget lunch at the Taco stand<G> Once on the beach... *there was a brief time of reflection.. The Surfer would stop and watch others or the horizon.. or watch the Ocean for tell-tale signs of weather and surf condition.. In yur hip pocket or just "found on the beach" were chunks of wax.. The tops of most "classic" Surfboards were not smooth, but chunky surfaced wax with ground in sand... Wax has a property of becomeing "sticky" as well as displaceing water.. and "waxing" the board had nothing to do with makeing the board "Look" better but everything to do with allowing you to stand and "grip" in a very wet and wild surf... Wax was made for changeing conditions, water temps ect. and the surfer just added and added till it worked!<G> Try standing on a slick coffe table with cold water rushing accross it<G> *that's a surfboard without wax<G> Try it with "Non-skid" *Better? <G> Last Sunday.. We ate at our friends house and some have been following my Rangernet "surf" reports..<G> They mentioned a verse from a Ranger song.. "Give me wax for my board keep me surfing for the Lord.." *What the song "means" then is: My Life floats upon the restless sea, and as the power of the Holy Spirit propells me like a wave to the shore.. *I must stick with the program<G> We need to hang on when the ride get's wild... we need the right wax applied *BEFORE we surf for Jesus!
