Dear Rangers.
I just got this from another list and thought I would share it with you.
If 99.9% were good enough.....
* 12 newborns would be given to the wrong parents daily.
* 114,500 mismatched pairs of shoes would be shipped per year.
* 18,322 pieces of mail would be mishandled per hour.
* 2,000,000 documents would be lost by the IRS this year. (We
can handle that one!)
* 2.5 million books would be shipped with the wrong covers.
* Two planes landing at Chicago's O'Hare airport would be unsafe
every day.
* 315 entries in Webster's Dictionary would be misspelled.
* 20,000 incorrect drug prescriptions would be written per year.
* 880,000 credit cards in circulation would turn out to have incorrect
cardholder information on their magnetic strips.
* 103,260 income tax returns would be processed incorrectly per
year.
* 5.5 million cases of soft drinks produced would be flat.
* 291 pacemaker operations would be performed incorrectly.
* 3056 copies of tomorrow's Wall Street Journal would be missing
one of the three sections.
* A typical day would be 24 hours long (give or take 86.4 seconds).
This made me think:
"What if God only gave us 99.9%?" That would mean that His Son
would not have died on the cross for our sins. This would mean that
we are condemned under the Law.
What if God only allowed 99.9% of the Holy Spirit to work in our
lives, this would mean that we would not be effective as we are.
What if God only answered 99.9% of our prayers. What a mess we
would be in.
What if God only gave us 99.9% of the Bible. How would know and
fully understand His Kingdom and His love for us? How would we
know what it is to be a committed Christian? How would we know
God?
The way I see it is that God does not hold anything back from His
children he gives 110% all the time. He gave his Son to die for our
sins, He gave us the Holy Spirit to empower us to be like Jesus
and do many "signs and wonders", He answers all our prayers
according to His will for our lives, He gave us His word, the Bible,
so we can read His words and see His greatness and love. His
word also goes for logos (the written word) to rheema (His spoken
word in our lives). When we read a passage in the Bible and it hits
home it has gone from logos to rheema.
Last night I was explaining how God empowers us all with the Holy
Spirit to my Pioneer boys and came up with this example of how
God answers our prayers. "God will provide all our needs. If we ask
for a Super Intendo will God give it to us if knows we will spend
more time on that than reading His word or talking to Him, will He
give it to us? Or if we ask Him for a book that will help us grow as
Christians, do you not think that he will grant it because He knows
it will draw us closer to Him?" Of course he will.
Our Father gave His all, in His Son, how much should we give Him
in return?
Do not settle for second best, give God your best, after all, that's
what He did for you.
There's a storm coming, our Storm.
PROCLAIMING GOD'S LOVE TO A DYING WORLD
Say to the captives, 'come out,' and those in darkness, 'Be free!'
Isaiah 49:9
I looked to the heavens to where God dwells
I looked into my life to see he lives there as well.
