The reason is not to offend folks.. who work where the "rubber meets the
road"
*But the changes are mandated... That means the form that we know must change
to meet
some goals set by the Executive...

Consider that perhaps if Rangers set the "goal" we would have maybe "more of
the same"
that we have now.. So "outside" forces have been used to shape the target
that we will
be called to address...

Frankly, the Uniform is not the most important thing!

(Remember to keep the main thing... the main thing!)

What I gather.. is this. (Thin ICE and RADAR USED!)

Royal Rangers has some critics...

Today's pastors of churches sometimes question the "attitude" Ranger leaders
and outpost show in not
integrating fully with the evolving church mission. *Some of the critics have
fell upon the mantra that
"Ministry is more important than an outdoor scouting program" and a
uniformed group is old news...
perhaps un-hip or out.

>From someplace they recommended changes to our program... and one might be
dropping the uniform
and the camping program... Mayby if Ranger fed boys into Youth they might
support it then..they need help to.
Rangers sometimes uses too much resources and man power.

(Here's where I apply "radar")

In the NW Dist. several churches "Children's pastors" moved swiftly to
shut-down the Trailblazer/AS T/Challenger
programs and re-boot Pioneers into a "feeder group" into youth department...
they released the Commanders,
and dismissed the protest by using pastoral authority over Rangers
traditional Outpost Council oversight.

That's shocking.. but with hold judgment for a moment. *PLEASE!

(keep the main thing the main thing!)

Royal Rangers was created to be run under the Men's Ministry, overseen by lay
leadership... in as much as that line has been blurred by practical matters
in our churches, the Men of the church have given an excellent "Christian
scouting program"
a starvation diet of support. In tool craft we know that "what you don't
care for... go's away or falls apart.. rusts and becomes a hazard"

The care for a "program" is to keep it sharp.. oiled and READY!

All the "Outside" forces like the circular concept of achievement. Under that
system a boy comes and
joins for the time he chooses with no "stigma" of being new or "behind" the
achieving group... More
silver hawks will result, GMA's too!

*What you might ask is what happens to the concept of individual achievement
being rewarded?

*Of course we need to ask HARD QUESTIONS! *But we also need to with-hold
judgment
and trust that the core values of Royal Rangers will be preserved even with
an expanded option
being implemented in some churches, to facilitate that Pastors *vision of
church growth and
ministry to the whole body...

ONE LAST WORD!

*Do not make Cdr.Rich "DEFEND" what is being developed... 'rather "SHARE"
what is important to you in service to boys... don't stumble over rumors!

TRUST that your views are being considered...

Raise your eyes to the high prize and listen to what those that know Cdr.Rich
say about him..
*He's a Royal Ranger! He's been a commander and a FCF member... "Razorback
is one of us!

Make the main thing the main thing!
1, more outposts... more boys becoming rangers!
2. Better training- less burden on "Commander"
3.Fewer Leaders needed in each outpost
4.expanding vision!
