Today fathers are portrayed on Television as bumbling idiots I grew up with prayer in school Today there are police in school I grew up with drive in movies Today there are drive by shootings I grew up with fathers & sons going hunting Today sons are out hunting for their fathers I grew up when criminals were locked up Today we have to lock up ourselves for protection I grew up with Gideon's passing out new testaments in school Today schools pass out condoms I grew up with teenagers holding each other's hands Today they hold each other's babies I grew up with Mighty Mouse Today we have Masters of the Universe I grew up with role models like Aunt Bea and June Cleaver Today we have role models like Roseanne and Murphy Brown I grew up with a bottled drink called Coke Today kids are killing themselves with a drug called Coke I grew up in a time when parents would lay down their lives for their children Today they will lay down the life of their child for their personal convenience ~~ Anonymous
