Dear Francis:
What comes to mind real fast is questionable on safety, which convicts me already about if I am doing things safe enough with my Pioneers. they have been having a ball and we have been getting and holding their attention by doing some rather unusual things such as, playing on muddy dirt piles to teach teamwork and  compass work.
What I am thinking about is something I saw many years ago in Mother Earth News when I was still a new Christian. There was an article to make lanterns out of tangerine peels. I tried it once and it makes a lantern that glows orange. You need to peel tangerine in a way that has as few cuts in it as possible. Take out the tangerine meat and put in a small birthday candle.
Like regular candle lanterns this needs to be watched carefully and have water on hand to extinguish it immediately if it should catch fire. Do not let it burn for a long period of time, maybe for a 10 minute devotion or so.
USE EXTREME CAUTION!

Do any of you have a Christmas Craft idea that would be good for the
Pioneers?  Something not to involved but fun for the boys.

Thanks, Bernie
