praise the lord

Today is 1-4-2000

My wife, Lisa has steadily improved since the last update. Her kidneys have
begun to produce good quantities of clear urine, and that means they are
doing at least part of their job. The kidneys also regulate the electrolytes
in the blood, and that part is not working very well yet. She had dialysis
yesterday, to "...wash, but not dry" her blood, according to the Dr. (They
didn't have to remove any fluid.)

He still expects the kidneys to heal 100%, and is keeping her in the hospital
for a few more days to monitor her blood chemistry. If she continues to need
dialysis, he will release her as an outpatient, to return periodically until
her blood levels are acceptable. At most, if that is necessary, he doesn't
expect it to take longer than a month or two.

The end of her ordeal is very near. Thank you all for your prayers. The
nurses repeatedly have told me that they cannot believe how quickly she has
recovered for as sick as she was. My reply was simply, it's not "natural."
The Lord has his hand on her, and she will fully recover. I know your
prayers have been instrumental in her speedy recovery.

She is feeling better, and is reflecting on what has happened. The Dr.
likens it to post-traumatic stress disorder. She is realizing what she has
been through, and is experiencing some depression. A bit of my time is now
spent with her, holding her hand and crying with her. Pray that her faith
will be strengthened.

I'll send an update when she comes home. Until then, she has three specific
requests for prayer:

Kidney function to 100% recovery
Numbness in fingers to go away
A more intimate relationship with Jesus

thanks again,

dave
