Dear Materia Master:
The old seed strains of potaoes come in white, red, yellow and blue. I recall reading an article by the Seed Savers exchange that the Indians of the Southwest have been raising a variety of colored potatoes for years and are some the original strains of potatoes grown before they were common to Europe. Potatoes, corn (maize), beans and squash are native to America as well as maple syrup. All of this was introduced to to us European types by the Native Americans when we first came to this continent. Corn also comes in a variety of colors besides yellow. Corn is either a dent variety or a flint variety. The colored strains are usually the dent variety.

I haven't been looking for colored potatoe recently but I have seen them offered in the Seed Savers Exchange, I have seen them in Gurnee Seeds and I have seen them in Seeds Blum catalog which has mainly non-hybrid seeds and a lot of interesting garden plants that you don't always see offered.
This could be an interesting project for a Royal Ranger outpost that has access to land and to somebody in FCF looking for a trade.

Vegemite is a processed yeast extract and it is strong flavored, but
yummy.  My roomate in college was an Australian.  He had a kangaroo
skin on the floor when I walked into the room for the first time.
I knew it would be great.  So was the vegemite.
