Well, saturday morning at 4:00 am I awoke with a idea to fix a problem
with ordering supplies in our Outpost. We have about a 3 week turnaround
and that is tooooo long as some guys forget what they ordered.
So with a strong cup of coffee and slience in the house. I went to work
creating a database that holds GPH catalog number, description, price.
Then I put in a few items from the catalog into it.
Next I loaded up the Ranger Advancement database and made it relational
with the GPH database and made the screen that you enter Ranger Merits,
Acheivements etc... into also have a ordering section that prepopulates
the data from the GPH database. Then it calculates the total off of the
amount of items wanted.
Then you goto a report and send out a copy of the GPH ordering from
already filled out with the information on it. All ready to FAX or mail.
It works pretty slick and the whole process only takes a few seconds to
input.
I only have a 1999 catalog so I will get a 2000 catalog and plug in the
numbers.
What is nice about this... you order and update your records in one
screen.
It is not ready yet but I was pretty excited about this and just had to
beller out the good news....(I know I need to get a life...grin)
Let me use it for a month and get it ready to go and I will put it up on
the web page for download.
