As for looking down on greenhorns? I know maybe something was said but I
have a hard time think that It was meant to be to hurt a young member. I
know here in Ohio we try to help youngbucks and such with ideas and
direction. I have seen some that get into the mountain man gruff and have
fun with newcomers with no harm meant. At our fall trace I had my bakers
tent set up and a brother had his hunters tents set up beside us. Across
from us was a couple of brothers that had just entered FCF in the spring and
there tent was a painters tarp strung up on a rope. They had four guys in
this little shelter with very little other gear. At dinner time My neighbor
(Grey Beard) and I had full dutch ovens full of stew and bisquits and we
hollered at the mewcomers to get over here and fill the bellies. That night
when a storm came through we opened our tents for these and gave them a
dryer place to bed down.
As for Grey Beard he treated me like this when I came into FCF helping me
out And we have camped next to each other now for about 6 years now and
traces and territorials.
Dont let wrong impressions spoil the FCF experiance for you and your
brother.
