I was in a men's prayer meeting on a Tuesday night. After it
was over, I was walking out the door when the guy who was Senior
Commander then said that they were always looking for men to
be involved. I laughed in my heart and said, "That's not for
me." An all too familiar voice replied, again in my heart,
"yes it is." Having been a Christian for 16 years at that point
I knew the penalty for disobedience. So I obeyed. I started
out as an SA LtCmdr with 4 others and 25 Straight Arrows.
Then all those boys got older so I moved to Buckaroos. Then
the boys all got older again and so they made me the Challenger
Commander. 7 months later, the Senior Commander stepped down
and I was voted in to replace him. I think it was because I
was home recovering from abdominal surgery that night. I
wasn't there to defend myself.
