Just thought everyone would like to know that Outpost 201's participation in
the Mesquite Rodeo Grand Opening Parade went great with only one hitch. . .we
ordered 400 Ultimate Ranger pamphlets. . .we just did not realize how many
boys would be at a rodeo parade! Next year we will order at least a
thousand. What we can't handle we can place in other outposts. Right?
Commander had to play catch up with the float as parent in the sidelines
started asking questions and showing interest. Hee Hee. Five miles went
easy as we did not have the boys march. We let them walk along side the
float so they could pass out flyers and candy.
Also we participated (right after the parade) in the Great American Trash Out
and helped clean a residential area. We thought we were going to clean a a
park but got sent further out that's cool. Had people come out ask who we
were what op# and just be thankfull. Did keep my eyes peeled in case there
was trash that the boys shouldn't be handling.
For their efforts the boys received a bag full of goodies (provided by the
local beautification organization), popsicles, visors and tickets to the
opening night at the rodeo. Not only that, this completed the boys public
service merit and the outing for the younger/newer ones.
This was our final outing with OP 201 and we are going to miss them. One
Pioneer made us going away cards. Mine had the empblem drawn on the front a
personal message inside and on the back he drew a Pioneer saluting. Made
Chief Flaming Hair dissolve into tears.
Just thought I'd share,
Chief Flaming Hair
