The one thing I see in Rangers is the parent who is never involved usually is
already involved in music or something else in the church. They have reached
their limit and resist getting involved even when their own children are
affected. Other things at the church comes first. Sad, they will make sure
little Johnny is faithful and committed to Little League baseball and other
stuff but not Rangers. However that is the way it sometimes is with the
"haves." Funny the boys who we may consider "Have-nots" will be more
faithful to wear the uniform, and go campouts than the haves. That's were I
get excited, for the have-nots. You see I was one of them as a boy and when
one of them does well I love it.
The boys parent who will find time to do everything else but spend time
doing stuff like Rangers with their son will someday wish they had dropped
some things and invested more in their kids. They will understand how
important it was to make sure their kids had build a strong Christian
foundation in the church with other kids learning from dedicated Christian
leaders. I learned this the hard way with one of mine and I want others to
learn from me. Some listen and some don't. I respect their choice.
How do we get more people involved? Make Royal Rangers more exciting than
ever. Present it to the parents in a way they know what is expected of them
and stay in them until they comply. We have about 60% in uniform. I am
going to have an uniform inspection this week and take the sizes for the boys
who don't have one. I will call their parents or talk to them saying we need
the cost by next week. I will see how this goes and let the list know.
