A Huricane a comming!!! Wind Gusts 40 to 50 mph all night long. Tents blown down. Main Outpost Gravy train tents pulled down. 10 boys end up sleeping in Ranger Bus! Tempetures in the lower 30's. Fire buckets frozen over. Fire Pits were 18" Deep. Sent 3 boys home for lack of clothing. 100 men and boys showed up for a fun packet weekend to learn about gun safety and camp and enjoy the fellowship of one another! We enjoyed Gun Safety Class in the RR Bus 50 guys. The Cannon sounded off at meal and meeting times for all to gather around. The bugle sounded many times. The Cup rack held 60 cups and a blow pop was rewarded to all that kept their cup at the end of the campout. We had 60 at our Council Fire service with a 4 foot tall council fire and the outpost Chaplin brought the word with songs and 3 skits. Many seeds were planted and we had Windy Service down by the River Bank! After that we had hot choclate and coffee and went to bed. Some buys played capture the flag and at 1:30 a father woke me up with Mark did my 2 boys come back from council fire? They didn't come back to the tent. It was 32 degrees out side and I climbed out of my warm bag and put on t-shoes and went into the Company Mash Tent to get the details..winds gusting like crazy. "It was wild" we prayed for a quick search and I went to the Ranger bus. Inside were his two boys and 2 others crashing out on the bus seats no Sleeping bags just coats. Through out the night I was awoken by BIG Gust of winds that literly lifted my camp pad up off the ground and would roll me around.... "It was wild" The next morning the winds abaited at about 5:30. A gentle breeze took place and the campout was infull swing with stories being told of my tent went down and we did this...and we went to the van and did.... and boy it was cold last night I wished I had my .... Praise God we were all there and 3 blasts from the cannon brought every one out for morning devotion on the town of echk and some more gun safety by a local Polilce officer. We had a fantastic breakfast and setup spin that can, drop that ballon, strike that match and soak that Amaginary commander" "GRIN:" then after 1.5 hours we had a father and his two sons show us there home made bow collection from native materials just like the local tribes used to make them from natural stuff. We had about 6 bow stations and the boys got to shoot and learn about bows. Lunch was on with sandwiches, fruit and all the boys got Candy bars for surviving the night and contest prize winners were rewarded with extras. We headed home about 2:45 and was unloaded and the boys picked up about 4:00 pm. Dispite all the "Wild Weather" the boys were faunthin at the bit for another campout and ready to go again! I did confirm and learn a valuable lesson. The fellowship is so much better when you cook and eat together from the same tent. P.S. The soak that commander with the home made igniter worked great and using the patrol method to get it done worked great. Each boy had a part and each got to shoot at the target 3 times. It was hard but they loved it! Just sounding off! Take your Rangers Camping! Report!!!
