MANY of us have sons....
Where do a parent's rights end, and where should government intervention
begin?
Slavery is not the issue. This is a matter of deciding whether or not life
in Cuba represents child abuse versus life in the U.S. being the "good
life"... is that for US to decide?
The father of this child has no rights concerning the well being of his son?
Pure American arrogance assumes that our way is the only way that is right
when it comes to child rearing, but (ave a few dedicated Bible believing
christians).. what example is America providing concerning child rearing
anyway? Look at our streets, our prisons, our grave yards, our rehab
centers!!
I agree... slavery is repulsive and we're ashamed of our own history,
communism stands against everything we stand for, so we fight against it...
but do those things out-weigh what a father feels is best for his son? Did
God ever tell Moses to take Pharoh's son away from him since Pharoh was
wrong? ... no, instead he took the son's life. Though not fully parallel in
story line, the point should be clear.
Granted, this particular father has perhaps not "partaken" of what we call
"freedom"... but does that make him unfit??? ....he may not understand our
arguement about the "good life" here in the free US of A. How arrogant of
the U.S. to think he should "KNOW" what he's taking his son away from or to
by taking him back to Cuba. It's not like this boy is going back to a
poverty based cardboard hut... his father is in the upper elite of the
communist party and will be (and is) a National Hero to Cuba. Who are we to
say he's going into the Lion's den?
In the same way, those who are not in the light have no clue what living in
the light is like... and we cannot force them to see the light... even if we
shine it in their eyes. Does that mean they have no parental rights?
Should we Christians lobby the government to take away every child from
every home where the parents are not doctrinally in line with us?
You see how rediculous this can get?
The boy WILL hear the gospel. he WILL have an opportunity to meet Jesus...
the BIBLE says so.... Whether he lives in Cuba or Mars... the Bible says
EVERY one shall hear and have the chance.... America isn't the only place
where the gospel is heard.... but it sure seems at times like its the place
it's ignored most... let's clean up our own yards before we complain about
the weeds in our neighbor's yard.
Let's not be the arrogant Americans that we're collectively proving
ourselves to be.... let's be caring, praying chrstians... keeping in mind
our mission to Reach Teach and Keep.
Just my commentary....
Parson.
