Hi Steve

I am quite sure that the language used is latin.
BTW they stopped yapping ( NO pun intended )in that tongue long ago.
Even though I am living in the Old Country I have not heard anybody lately
using that lingo.
Maybe some monks living in thin air up in the greek alps.

Aside from that the song is very appropriate to the easter and I heard it
first in the early 80's in Calgary, Alberta, also in the context of some
Easter play at Calgary Christian Center.

Hi Paul,
In the lyrics of the song, it said the way of suffering, just want to
know,
and wonder what language it is.
Thanks

Below is the lyrics.

Steve

Down the via dolorosa in Jerusalem that day
the soldiers tried to clear the narrow street;
but the crowd pressed in to see
the man condemned to die on Calvary.

Down the Via Dolorosa
called "The way of suffering"
Like a lamb, came the messiah, Christ the King.
And He chose to walk that road out of His love for you and me
Down the Via Dolorosa, all the way to Calvary

He was bleeding from a beating
There were stripes upon His back
And He wore a crown of thorns upon His head,
And He bore with ev'ry step
The scorn of those who cried out for His death

The blood that would cleanse the souls of all men
made its way thru the heart of Jerusalem! Jerusalem!

Down the Via Dolorosa, called "the way of suffering"
Like a lamb, came the messiah, Christ the King
And He chose to walk that road out of His love for you and me
Down the Via Dolorosa, all the way to Calvary
