I give most of the credit to the fact that he has a mom that really loves
him and wants the best for him and is willing to sacrifice to make sure he
is at every event. It is a poor family. Danny said to me one night on a
campout, "Commander Rick" (he is always very polite) "I never knew my dad.
Would it me okay if I kinda acted like you were my dad?"
Man, some kids are easy to love!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is an honor for you Rick. I know a pretty special Lady like you talk about right
here. It is my mother who did the same thing she did for her son in Rangers. She saw
the men had an impact on a boy that would help him in life for a long time. I had a Commanders
that I felt the same way about. Commander Billy Ryan Jr. and Commander Mike Junkermeyer.
These two guys loved me and even though they had a family they always found time for me.
Even though once I got a dad he left at times for sea duty these commanders did not care
about that. They cared about me. I thank God about that.
