*No Flames!

We are Rangers!

*Cdr.Will Thorne toured the US and brought the Ranger program/ministry to
Austrailia.. *Because of slim resources, the decision was made to join the
two groups as they have done- with success..

I'm writeing from a USA perspective- and that decision has not been explained
or promoted very well among us...

*Often what we do is not speak of such things!

*However- the "radical" idea came from US Rangers to welcome Women
as leaders of the two younger BOY groups! *So the precident is set by
the USA itself for Women to serve as "Commanders"...

What remains "touchy" is training and leadership positions above the local
unit... You would think "training would become open" but USA's version
of NTC is male only.... *The "intention" is that Women do not need to be
trained to "camp" because the younger boys do not overnight... *camp-

*Now at this NTC camp much is made about the treatment of *Boys by
*Men and "our" ways- male ways need to be softened or taylored to the
emergeing natures of young adolesent boys... In doing so.. the trainees are
put into "Patrols" led by fellow appointed trainees and instructed in what
to do and when to do it by "Sr.Guide"...

*Now two questions from someone who paid $125 to attend this camp...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. Is development of the Patrol system in my outpost desired by National
training?

2. Is there "something" about Male adult leaders that is not desired by
National training?

*You see- I beleve in the Ranger program, and see no compelling reason to
exclude
the participation of Women in further training and in assumeing positions at
all levels
of leadership. *This does not automaticly mean women will camp at Dist. powwow,

but it could bridge the gap in asking why they are not welcome except as
"visitors"

> This whole subject is so natural to us that we do not even discuss it.
> If we can recruit female leaders then we will have girls in our OP's.

*Natural is a good thing- so is the respect you give the female leaders over
the
girl Rangers... I allso assume that "Leadership" is not about domination but
about
guidence and coaching-teaching-nutureing each Ranger to discover their full
potential.
