Hi Ken, > Alvin York's predicament was caused by misinterpretation of the Bible. > The reality is that the commandment is 'Thou shall not MURDER.' > God had no objection to killing those who deserved death. There are > multiple instances of God directly ordering the killing of both > individuals and groups. I hope you are not going to say that all the german/austrian soldiers who lost their lives in WWI deserved death. Yes, I know, God ordered the killing of many people in the old testament, but I don't think WWI was ordered by God on any side. > Objecting to war and/or violence is an individual decision that should be > respected, but Christians should be wary of using the Bible in defense > of such decisions... As a german I'm living in a country where most christians do believe objection is the 'right way'. I am not an objector, but I served my obligatory service in the German Army. From my personal experience I know that it can be very hard to defend yourself against the scriptural arguments of the objectors. Yes, they have many scriptures they may quote from.
