Basicly Very Very Poor Management skills. They have been so busy buying
to be the Biggest Phone Company in town and sent almost 1/3 or their
employees into developing Broadband Networks (I saw 6 of them today
crusin town 2 guys to a truck and all were inspecting cable placements).
We have Construction Crews and Broadband crews putting in 8 hour days
monday through Friday while the Instalation and Maiintainace Crews are
working 12 hour days 7am to 7pm manditory because SWB doesn't have any
money to fix any of their existing network cables. In other words we
have cables that have been hanging in the air some since the twenties
that are full of cracks and when it rains... everything shorts out until
the sun comes out and dries it back out again only to go out again the
next time it rains.

I had a cable today that a dump truck had tore down. It was a old Lead
incased Paper insullated cable that had a 8 foot section torn up.
Instead of replacing this cable 700 feet of it at .53 cents a foot we
spent 6 hours hanging in a 8 foot piece of new cable and having to tone
out each wire 2 guys 3 hours. Next time it rains all those new cracks
will open and get wet and shortout the lines. I can pull reports on
cables where we have sent out over 60 dispatches into a little 100 pair
cable in less than 1.5 years all cable related and it averagely takes 4
hours to fix a cable fault. Math: 2400 hours times 22.00 dollars per
hour = 52,800 dollars in maintance costs and yet it would cost .80 cents
a foot to replace 2000 feet and be done with it for 20 years.
To fix it-1600.00 versus 52,800 yearly This doesn't
include all the other service calls that people make to their burgular
alarm companies, Internet Companies...etc....

All the money in the world doesn't buy happiness. I don't enjoy working
12 hour days staying away from my family, church, Rangers and all the
things that are important to me.

It is kind of like a leak in your roof. Instead of fixing the leak they
send us out to put a bucket under the leak to catch the water for a
while.

Yet we make money despite this foolishness. I look forward to the day
when real competition comes into play into the Telephony industry and
they have to cut the foolishness out or go out of business.

Whats sad about this is the powers that make the decisions... are so out
of touch with reality.

I will be forced to work Saturday. 12 hours at 45.00 per hour. Uncle
Sam will take 50% in taxes. If it was for a good reason it would be
worth it. What a waste. This amount may seem like a lot. But it pales
when you figure the lost time with things that matter. Before I was
saved I worked hours made tons of money had the American Dream...then my
wife and child left and all the money in the world was worthless.
I won't go there again. God restored my family Saved my soul. Money and
overtime are the Devils ploys to keep Gods people from doing what he has
called us to do. Get the behind me Satan.

Please pray for wisdom for myself and SWB.
