It saddens to say that a man I helped get into Royal Rangers as a Commander in 1985 is going before a Federal Court on the 14th for sentencing for crimes he has committed.  In this case, he is, in fact admittedly guilty of the crimes he's being sentenced for and stands to receive a minimum sentence (unless God intervenes) of 25 years behind bars (where he has been for the last several months).

Unfortunately, his crime was such that he will never be allowed to be a commander again, nor will he be able to see his 3 kids again... or use a computer...

I tell you all this for three reasons...

1.  Pray for the fallen commander who had truly made himself right with God, yet must live with the consequences of his actions and those he has affected by his actions.  He needs prayer for strength as he faces the middle quarter of his life behind bars without his family and friends.

2.  Pray for his Wife and Kids.  His wife has been a real trooper in all this, but has chosen to stand by her man, in spite of the grievous circumstances.  Her faith is being tested and tried, but she is doing well, despite of the loss of her new home, all of her vehicles and every other meaningful possession due to mounting legal expenses.

3.  Pray for yourselve, pray for each other, lest you / we fall into some sort of sin that so easily allures us when our spiritual guard is down.  This man was a Section Commander and a Training Chief, and Sunday School Teacher during the time he was arrested.  All of us are human and are weak without Gods strength... this is why we need GOD and cannot ever take our eyes off of him, even for a fleeting moment; lest we fall.  We cannot fall into the "I can handle it myself" lies of Satan.

Satan cannot always directly attack us with a frontal assault, or we'll see him coming and raise the banner of defense... He knows this... his best method to get Christians to take the wrong path is COMPROMISE!....  A little thing here, a little thing there...

Just like the compass course... one little off step can land us FAR from the mark, especially if we travel that path too far.

Blessings,

Parson.
