Rendevous was a week of slow living, getting up eating, going to
devotions morn and evening, in between visiting time periods and vendors
and occasionally entering a competition. The weather was hot during the
day yet cool enough to sleep well at night. The youngbucks from Illinois
had services after the main service was over. "Officially" straight line
winds devestated camp Thursday morning. However the Tornado that came
through the Gulf Region area, without touching down, did hit Eureka
Springs. We had a good two hour rain and then put the pieces back
together and then dried out. Many FCFers pulled up packed up and left. So
many left by Friday that evening services were cancelled and the
Rendevous was over at 2:00 after the auction.
The only dissapointment was the quality of prizes for the competitions.
Although they were a little better than last time you would think that a
national event would have good quality prizes. A gun case for black
powder is pretty poor for first place. At our district Trace we always
have 2 rifles for 1st place prize.
Of course overall, National Rendevous was a great time especially taking
the youngbucks.
