My recollection is that you got the bead for simply participating in the event.
There were a few (very few) events where you  had to accomplish something to
earn something else.  Like lighting the match with the hatchet to earn a bear
claw in the FCF village...

Say a typical line takes 10 minutes to get from the back to front. Now say you miss the target. You have to the back of the line and try again. That's 20 minutes for that one event.
If I remember right you were given six to eight hours per day for events. If you spend 20 minutes at an bead event that adds up.
Wouldn't it be alot easier just to give the bead, instead of, sending the Ranger to the back of the line?
