We as Royal Rangers should build a bridge to and encourage the Boy Scouts
wherever we can. Additionally, we should continue to pray for them as they
are in the midst of spiritual warfare.

Hundreds of Christians rallied on behalf of the Boy Scouts last
week at city hall in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., where commissioners
voted against giving $4,000 to the Scouts to help disabled and
disadvantaged children. The money would have gone to Learning for
Life, a Scout program that benefits public school children in
high crime areas. Broward County, with its seat in Fort
Lauderdale, also voted to withdraw $92,884 from the Scouts, and
Miami-Dade schools postponed a Scout recruitment drive over the
ban on gays.
...Banners at the rally read "Save Our Scouts" and "Keep Your
Hands Off Our Scouts." Several pro-homosexual protesters in the
crowd booed the speakers and compared the Scouts to white
supremacist groups. Larry Thompson, pastor of First Baptist
Church of Fort Lauderdale and one of the speakers, presented a
check for $10,200 to the Scouts, the amount his congregation had
raised toward funding Learning for Life.
...Jim Naugle, mayor of Fort Lauderdale, who cast the only vote
for the Scouts, was quoted in newspapers as saying he was ashamed
that the commission "chose to listen to a very militant lobby to
take away funding for something as wholesome as the Scouts."
...Meanwhile, several national Christian groups are organizing to
support the Scouts. Focus on the Family (see link #1 below),
Family Research Council (see link #2 below), and the Center for
Reclaiming America (see link #3 below) say they will try to stop
local governments and other longtime financial supporters from
turning their backs on the group over its ban on homosexuals,
Paul Hetrick, spokesman for Focus on the Family, told Religion
Today. Actions could include a boycott of tourism in Fort
Lauderdale, news reports said.
