I am writing a story and I need some knowledge of how Indians prepared hides
to make thier shelters. I understand that some nations had the squaws
"chew"
the hide to make it soft and then it was stretched out between poles to
stretch and bleach it. Then it was painted for the lodge it was to be. Is
 this anywhere near correct? Janet
