Throughout the history of Royal Rangers, leaders have NOT been able to earn
the boys' awards. That is still true.

My statement yesterday was that under the new program that comes out in
2002, leaders will be able to earn the merits, and to show that
accomplishment on their uniform just as the boys will. Leaders still will
not be able to earn any of the awards that boys earn. That means that in
2002 and beyond, leaders will still NOT be allowed to earn the GMA. The GMA
is for boys, period.

Leaders have many other ways to advance and earn awards -- earn your
Leaders Medal of Achievement (LMA), earn your Outpost Commanders Award or
Leaders Service Award every year, become a member of FCF and then advance
in rank within FCF and Trappers Brigade, go on a Pathfinder trip, etc.
