Stone In My Hand

"I am struggling with pornography and the people in my
small group have been praying and supporting me in my
change!" the guy shared openly in front of hundreds one
Sunday.

What bothered me was that no one was shocked.
"Thank you for being honest," the pastor commented
as the service continued.

Wait a second!

Why was no one condemning this horrible sin or this sick
sinner who had caved into the lust of the flesh?
How does this church permit such freedom for people
to share their struggles with sin?

Remember that famous account of people came to Jesus
seeking his judgment of the woman caught in the act of
adultery?
When they kept on questioning Him, He straightened up
and said to them, "If any one of you is without sin, let
him be the first to throw a stone at her."
John 8:7 (NIV)

The pastor told me this when I questioned him afterwards,
"If Jesus does not condemn him any more, who am I to
judge and condemn my brother who is struggling with
sin? Don't we also struggle with our own sins?
If he is accepted fully and unconditionally by God, who
am I to reject him?"

"But, why was no one shocked?" I asked.
"We try very hard to cultivate an atmosphere of trust and
genuine acceptance" He answered.

Suddenly and shamefully, I felt a stone in my hand.
