Hawaii was a primitive culture of polynesian tribes untill united
by war under the leadership of King Kameamea 1 who drove
attacking warriors over the Pali cliffs to their deaths..

Hawaii had a religious system of multi gods to natural forces,
sacred shrines and human sacrifice and a strict system of behaviors
know as the "Kapu"...

King Kameamea 2 held court as the first "Outsiders" arrived by
shaip commanded by Capt. James Cook, who later ran into some
trouble following his shooting of one Big island fellah. Cooks ship
returned with the navigational direction and location of the "Sandwich
Islands" and that began the education of King Kameamea in the ways
of the "civilized world".

Hawaii was a primitive subsistance economy, with few natural resources
but haveing a stratigic location for fresh water and supplies in the
worlds
largest ocean. As trade began, Kameamea 2 saw how the old ways could
not benifit the people and with one singlar act brought the system of
"Kapu"
or "Taboo" to an end.

The King crossed over to eat at the table with the women.

*This had been a capitol offence!
---------------------------------

The people must now inforce "Kapu" and exicute their King- or
"forgive him" and learn that the old ways were no more...

Hawaii chose to "forgive" and the King ordered the old Tiki
statues burned and tore down, and told the people a better way
would come<G>

The next year- *Missionaries arrived!

(more to come)

Aloha!
