My sister, who recently went through a very trying divorce, bought a new
house, and became a regular rural carrier the first of December. That's the
good news.
As she just became a full-time employee, she had no insurance. She got
dog-bit at work (delivering mail) a couple of weeks ago. She spent this past
weekend in the hospital after she became so ill that she could barely walk
and had extreme pain in her legs.
She came back from a nearly 5 hour visit with a doctor yesterday with some
heartbreaking news. She has to have surgery because she has been diagnosed
with cervical stenosis with myelopathy. Simply put, this means the space in
the spine for the nerves is compressed. She has to wear a neck brace/collar
and cannot pick up anything more than 2 pounds. But, the doctor would not
schedule a date for the surgery as he needs $14000 up front--and that is not
including the hospital costs. As a part time employee, she accumulated no
sick or annual leave. So, the bottom line is she needs surgery, has no paid
time off, a new house to pay for, and no means to do so.
I urgently request your prayers as we all know that God can do the miraculous.
