Dear rangernet members,
I have been following most of the postings in the past few months. Now I
would like to give a comment. You can delete this or take it to heart.
Many of you know that I have been battling an illness for the past 6 or
so years. I also have been battling for worker's compensation benefits.
I have been in Royal Rangers from Feb. 92 to 97. During that time I took
a lot of training. I wanted to be one of the best commanders and
examples to the boys. Also during that time, I took phase 1 and 2 of
Frontier Camping and on to Wilderness. I do not regret any of it. I
enjoyed it. "But" it got to the point where it came before family and my
relationship with God.
The turn of events with my health made it very difficult to be a
commander. I did not trust myself to be in charge of boys, equipment, and
involved with event. It got to the point where I was very sensitive to
bug spray, car and truck exhaust, road trips, nylon, and plastic, and
etc.
God used the talent he gave me through FCF to build a business. He brings
in the work. He gives me the know how to put the clothing together. He
also gave me a body guard to go along at re enactment events. I only
gone to a few during the year of 2000.
>From what I have see on the re enactment field. It is a hobby that
consumes them. I delived a great coat to a customer last month. This guy
has one room set aside for re enacting. He had over 10 sets of clothing.
He still wants me to make more. He has a ton of hand made knifes. Wall
to wall of books and magazine. And he still wants more. This guy is over
65 and retired.
Brethren, this business I run is only a business. It does not consume me.
Many of a times, I would rather shut it down. But for now, God is using
it to build my faith, reach the lost, and help pay for bills.
Neither of these is Royal Rangers and FCF. Both of them should maintain
a high standard. Because it is a ministry that should glorify God. Men
and women are called to this to be not only leaders. But servants to
boys and one another.
I believe also that rangernet should an avenue for encouraging and
lifting up one another. Not taring down or complaining or back biting or
blasting the President of the United States.
I have seen many, including myself run from adversity. But not realizing
that God will use that to refined our character. I praise God for these
difficult years. For I have learn to trust in God. I also have drawn
closer to him. No, I would not trade where I am now for what I was.
What kind of answers do you have to the following questions?
What are you in Royal Rangers and FCF for?
Does either one of them come before your family, wife, and God? If so,
you have a problem?
Why are you a Christian?
Why are you on rangernet?
Are you a servant of the Most High God or a whiner?
Do you judge others in the faith and the lost around you?
Are you living under grace or legalism(do's and don'ts)?
Do you judge those in authory above you? Or do you pray for them? Do you
summit to them?
Lastly, are you willing to change in the year 2001?
Your fellow servant,
rick/eagle feather
