Hi Boris,

I don't know about NTT in the US, but I can tell you what it is in Germany.

When we arrived in thursday afternoon, we built up our basis camp. Then we
prepared a meal with food from the nature and a fish each one had to kill
and to gut for himself.
In the early hours of friday we started the training hike in groups of 5 or
6. We were sent to a course which was circular and about 40 km (?) in
circumference. Half of the groups were sent out clockwise the others
counterclockwise so we would meet friday evening in the middle after having
passed several stations teaching us survival, orienteering and rope craft
techniques.
In the evening we had an introduction how to build a bivouac/primitive
shelter with and without our equipment. Then we would make our way into the
woods and do what we were told immediately before: prepare a place for the
night.
The next morning we would start for the second half of the hike passing the
stations (like rope bridge, primitive boats ...) the other groups (which
went counterclockwise) had passed the day before.
In the late afternoon we arrived back at the basis camp (wet all over as it
had started to rain during the night and didn't stop until later in the
evening).
I don't actually remember what we did (besides sitting at the campfire)
after that but maybe you'd better ask Gnter Pflaum. He should know exactly
what it is like, as he has a Trail Commander at German NTTs for years.
Sunday morning we had a service, broke up (what the rain had left over of)
the camp, received the badges and certificates and made our way home.

One thing I won't forget. We were 5 people from my area who travelled
together in one car. On our way home we stopped by a McDonalds an d went in
there, muddy from top to bottom. I don't want to know what they thought of
us, but it was great fun...

> later.

Yea, do it. It's great.
