Hi Kevin,

I think it is a great idea. Check with National, they may already have something like this lined up for the new program. 200+ merits and growing. Otherwise write it up and submit it for approval.

God Bless,

Subject: [RR] merit idea?

Hi, Commanders
I have a question on a merit idea.   Being we are a ministry to reach, teach,
and keep boys for Christ and our Pow Wows or Jamborees are a time for the
boys to come together in Christ with the draw of camping and other
activities.
My idea is a Ministry Merit with requirements of working with different areas
in and outside the church. Which might include going to and being active in a
district youth convention, a Jamboree, a street outreach, a nursing home, a
youth camp, a children's church, etc., writing reports on the ministries they
were involved in?
Not requiring all but maybe 6 out of 8. I was thinking about this week as a
noted that I had boys that went to Shake The Nations, others getting ready
for an AIMs trip, and some going to a nursing home to sing and reach out to
others. I know there are some merits that may cover some of these areas but
not all are covered. We also have other merits that overlap like hiking and
pathfinder.
I would like this forum to put our prayers and our hearts into this type of
award for the boys that are looking into the other ministries in our churches
to see what other areas that God has for them.
As we all know the Lord is using us to build our future leaders in our
churches and in Rangers.
What do you guys think and any ideas on a merit like this?
