Duane, you seem absolutely bound, set and determined to replace Royal Rangers with Boy Scouts. Or at the least to completely CHANGE Royal Rangers into a mirrored reflection of Boy Scouts. Why? Johnnie Barnes never intended for Royal Rangers to replace Boy Scouts, nor did he wish to emulate Boy Scouts. His intent was to create an outreach ministry run by Men's Ministries to provide an alternative to Boy Scouts. All the tools, projects, programs and features where intended to be part of a MINISTRY. The whole program is oriented around leading a boy to Christ. You are now recommending that the ministry part become just a small adjunct piece of a program that's intent is to raise 'Leaders'. I don't know that the GMA should ever be EQUAL to an Eagle, nor am I sure that we should even aspire to that. I do know that any young man who has earned a GMA is a fairly well rounded, high achieving, productive Christian and that he most likely will retain those traits thru to adulthood... Can he/Will he be a leader? Probably... Should we alter Royal Rangers simply to increase the odds that he WILL be a leader? hmmmmm...
