The Price of Compromise . . .

One day a hunter came across a bear in the woods.  The bear said to the hunter, "I want a full stomach."  The hunter responded, "I want a fur coat."  "Let's compromise," suggested the bear . . . and promptly ate the man.  As a result, they both got what they wanted.  The bear went away with a full stomach and the man went away wrapped in a fur.

This hunter learned the lesson of compromise . . "When having to choose between the lesser of two evils . . . choose neither!"

As Christians, you and I have a choice to make!  God always calls us to excellence . . . and never to compromise.  We should never settle for just anything; but rather, we should always seek for what is right . . . knowing that a compromise will always be more expensive than either of the alternatives.

This is precisely the message God was conveying to Abraham when the scriptures record:
"This day I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death. blessings and curses.  Now choose life, so that you and your children may live.
Deuteronomy 30:19

When compromise is allowed in one area, it always leaks out and begins to affect another area.  Inevitably, lies, deceit, and error will creep in and take over.  Only in the little things at first . . . but soon it will move into the larger areas . . . eventually taking over every part of life.  Sound too melodramatic . . . it's not!  Every alcoholic started out with only one drink.  No one intends on being a drug addict, or a gambler, etc., they all began with just a seed.

Don't allow compromise to creep into your life!  Be a person of integrity!  Guard your heart!  Protect your reputation, and the reputation of Jesus Christ and His Church.  Every day there will be new choices to make, and with them . . . new opportunities to test your commitment.  The choice is yours, as the future hangs in the balance between . . . The Blessings of God and . . . The price of compromise!
