FW: An answer to all the chain e-mail you have ever received ! NOW, EVERYONE , SAY THIS WITH ME: "I won't be cursed with bad luck, lose my friends, gain weight, lose my mailing lists, hear any music, or see a cool pop-up screen if I don't forward this. Bill Gates is NOT going to send me money, Victoria's Secret doesn't know anything about a gift certificate they're supposed to send me, and Ford will not give me a 50% discount even if I HAVE forwarded my e-mail to more than 50 people. I will NEVER receive gift certificates, coupons or freebies from Coca Cola, Cracker Barrel, or Old Navy if I send this to 10 people who don't know who I am anyway. . . EVER!!!! My phone will not MYSTERIOUSLY ring after I forward this. There is not, and never has there been ANY SUCH THING as an Email tracker, and I am not stupid enough to think that someone will send me $100 for forwarding this to 10 or more people. The government does not have a bill in Congress called 901B (or whatever they named it this week) that if passed will enable them to charge us 5 cents for every sent e-mail. There will be NO cool dancing, singing, waving, colorful flower, character, or program I will receive immediately after I forward this. People are just trying to talk me into doing it to make me look like a fool. The American Red Cross will not donate 50 cents to a certain individual dying of some never heard of disease for every email address I send this to. The American Red Cross RECEIVES donations; they don't donate. And finally, I WILL NOT let others guilt me into sending things on to my friends for fear they will think I am not their friend...or by telling me I have no conscience or don't believe in GOD." Now, repeat this 4 times to yourself until you've memorized it, and then send it along to at least 5 of your friends before the next full moon, or --- you will be constipated for the next 3 months!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------To
all -- I thought this was pretty cute. But, on a more serious note,
I have attached an email that David wrote that is really good and goes along
with this. If you have received it from him already, here it is
again:) -- Love, V

The following is one of the internet hoaxes that is currently making the rounds. I repeat that this is a hoax. See my comments following the hoax email story. This is the hoax story: "There is a movie coming out in 2001! Saying that Jesus and his disciples were gay! There is already a play that went on for a while, but never stopped! Maybe we can all do something!
PLEASE SIGN AND SEND TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW! PLEASE. IF WE WORK TOGETHER WE CAN BAN THIS! PLEASE! Note To sign this, copy the text and paste it on a new (or forward) message. Then scroll down, sign the bottom and send it on." This is my comment: Internet hoaxes are running rampant. Many people believe that if a story comes by way of email, that it must be true (we have been conditioned this way because of radio, TV, magazines, and newspaper news). I have become extremely suspicious of any news that comes my way by way of email. There are a great number of people out there with nothing better to do than sit around making up stories to prey on the human heart. Personally, this smacks of the same mentality of the hackers who create viruses, worms, etc. Hoaxes are simply an email virus of the heart that cause us to expend valuable time and energy on a valueless endeavor. Also, because of the nature of this medium, more damage can be done to a cause when people do not act responsibly. Before you send on a story that has come to you by way of email, please take the time to verify its authenticity. Respectable journalism requires the journalist to "verify his/her sources". This is a form of journalism that has a more significant impact on its users. I can choose not to read the newspaper or watch TV news because I don't respect the quality of journalism I see or read. However, when email comes from those we love and respect , we have a tendency to just believe it because of its source. Please employ responsible journalism techniques when forwarding email to your family and friends. Here is something of value regarding email petitions that I got from the Break the Chain website that I pass along to you. "E-mail petitions are worthless. Due to the very nature of e-mails (as described in the Truth) e-mail petitions are unreliable and unverifiable. They hold absolutely no power in legal proceedings. All they really accomplish is give your name and e-mail address to hundreds of strangers -- A great way to guarantee you get more junk like this in the future. Spammers also prey on these hoaxes to gather names for their unwanted solicitations. Protect yourself and everyone you know, Break the Chain! " These three sites are a good source to check out a story before you send it on to family and friends. http://urbanlegends.about.com/science/urbanlegends/ http://www.icsalabs.com/html/communities/antivirus/hoaxes.shtml If you have found this letter to be of value, feel free to pass this along to whomever you wish. I am sending this to you with loving concern because we all need to be responsible for the information we pass along. This medium can a powerful tool or a form of gossip. I prefer the former, and I am sure that you do also. |
