Josh Wheeler GMA#3911 came home Sat. from a week-long
High Adventure on a 50'Yacht in So.Florida...

*The cost was $1,000 and was earned by progressive
fund raisers from leaf re-cycle and the shredding of
a local businesses archive of classified material.

The BSA "Seabase" is on Islamorada,Fla off the "overseas
Hyway" to Key West. Josh and 2 teams of 3 scout patrol's were
assigned to a charted 50'sloop with a captain and a pair
of adult Scout leaders.

The boys sailed, rigged the boat and cooked the meals..
anchored out and hung 'off the hook where they choose.

Out of sight of land they came on shipwrecks among the
coral reef's.. and snorkeled to see many colorful tropical
fish and some with teeth!<G>

At Key West,Fla. Josh and his buddies Nic and Trevor were
allowed to go free in the "conch republic" on shore leave.

These NW young men live in a land where it rarely is warmer
than 75F and trees are as tall a 3 story buildings with
Mountains of snow and ice cold streams.. In Key West it
was flat as a pancake and 88F with 100% humidity<G>

*This was way different<G>

He had a GREAT time.. went to a "shipwreck museum" learned
about pirates and Jimmy Buffet!<G> He visited Earnest Hemmingways
home, and ate a Cheeseburger in paradise....

They returned to Sea Base and held a Luau party<G> then
headed home via bus and Jet, Miami to Cincinnati and on
to Portland and home..

Bags in the 4 runner and the drive down the dark street..
and lit like Christmas was *Rancho Deluxe!

A banner hung from one side to the other back lit with
blinking lights....

"WELCOME HOME JOSHUA"

....silence, and a tiny tear came slow..

"Wow..."
