The Ranger handbook used to ask us to become "stewards"
of the land and it's resources and be "conservation minded"..
*Along the way.. we joined a conservative element that suspected
the environmental movement of moving us away from Christ centered
view of the earth and more friendly to secular thought than fundamental
values. We rebuked this Sunday morning, and joined it monday thru
Saturday.
We resisted change.. but began to re-cycle, re-use and re-think
the previous destructive ways of consumerism. Christ did not
buy a yogurt packed in a plastic cup, pasteurized and sealed with
foil and capped by a lid.. sold and put in a plastic bag.. to be
opened, and eaten with a disposable spoon encased in plastic wrap
for our sanitary "protection"<G> But this is the thing our Ranger
boys expect us to provide... They have been raised in pampered
sani-wraped zones of enviromental awareness.
We say we teach 'conservative values.. but the boys expect the norm.
The "norm" is a shifting pyridine based on changeing pop culture.
It's no wonder that the job of Commander is harder than ever<G>
I'm sure Jesus ate Yogurt, from just a bowl on the side of a road!
2,001 years later-
*I just ate a EarthDay lunch of:
Bread...
Salsa..
Humus..
Organic non-fat no-animal mayo..
Flamed Garden burger patty<G>
Corn chips..
herbal brew of 'some un-known sort...
*And it was GREAT!
I'm chooseing to be a joiner not a resister!
