All metal rugged Romanian military compass with matching leatherette case in unissued condition. The compass is box shaped with a cylindrical seating in which the magnetic needle is placed. The right hand side represents "the alignment line"; the compass dial is made of a transparent disk and a high quality protective glass, both of which are built into a heavy mount which is milled/machined from cast Aluminum. It has a precision sapphire movement, luminoous rotating dial, luminous cardinal points for N, S, E and W for reading under low light condition. It has mil divisions of 60-00, numbered every 5-00 by divisions of 0-50 mils. There are 2 slits on each side of the thick stainless steel sheet metal cover, maximizing the radius for aiming a landmark with a given dimension of the compass size to for best accuracy. A heavy chrome coated stainless steel mirror can function as a signaling device, or when open at 45-60 degrees held at the eye level, allows the sighting the direction of a landmark and reading the inscription on the compass at the same time. There is a directional arrow for orienteering, and the cover has metric graduations mark in mm from 0-50 mm for precise measurements during map reading. Close the cover and the magnetic needle is automatically locked to show the last position and protects the compass needle movement mechanism. This all metal construction, non-ferrous compass is 3x21/2x5/m" closed and weighs about a hefty 6 oz for a compass. It has the functions for cardinal point determination, magnetic-azimuth measurement of a certain direction, map orientation, and motion in the field according to a given magnetic azimuth, described in detail in the English manual. Comes a protective leatherette case and a lanyard. The simple and heavy, rugged design reminds the old European design/craftsmanship. This compass and pouch is a fine addition for any compass/military compass collection/display. Practically this is an excellent companion for any hiking/hunting/field trips.
