Ahhh Commander Michael,
You bring up an interesting point about the
Wilderness Pouch. As Mike is well aware, I am currently carrying a wilderness
pouch in my prepararition for the Wilderness vigil this fall. I have been
ask if it is a medicine or Indian pouch. I politely tell them no and then
go on to explain why I am wearing it. As it turns out this silly little leather
pouch is a great witnessing tool. It has opened the door to speaking with
perfect strangers and I am honored to be able to witness the name of Jesus
Christ to them.
As for Clint's comments. You have a point...to a
point. I believe God's Word tells us to go to the world and spread the good news
about Jesus Christ. It also tells us to not conform to the world. So if our
ministry is to the drunkards then go to where the drunkards are, but do not
become a drunkard in the process.
When we are presenting a ministry to the general
public we want to reach as many as possible without giving the appearance of
evil. If a ministry, because of it's theme, has the appearance of evil to those
we are trying to reach (the general public) then it is time to change it.
Now if the ministry is geared toward a specific audience then use a theme that
will attract them. Am I making any sense here :-)
Hope so...
Be blessed,
Bob Triphahn
